Find your fertile window, ovulation date, best days to conceive, and a full 3-month fertility calendar โ all based on your cycle.
The fertile window is the period each menstrual cycle when pregnancy is possible. It spans the five days before ovulation, the day of ovulation itself, and the day after โ approximately 6 days in total. Sperm can survive in the female reproductive tract for up to 5 days, which is why sex in the days before ovulation can lead to conception. The egg, once released, is only viable for 12-24 hours.
For a typical 28-day cycle, ovulation occurs around day 14 (counting from the first day of your period). However, cycle length varies significantly between individuals and from month to month. The key relationship is this: ovulation typically occurs 14 days before your next period, regardless of cycle length. So for a 35-day cycle, ovulation occurs around day 21. For a 24-day cycle, around day 10.
Calendar tracking gives you an estimate, but your body also provides physical signs. Cervical mucus changes โ becoming clearer, more stretchy, and similar to raw egg white โ in the days leading up to ovulation. Basal body temperature (BBT) rises slightly (0.2-0.5ยฐF) immediately after ovulation due to progesterone. A slight twinge of pain on one side (mittelschmerz) may accompany the egg's release. Ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) detect the LH surge that precedes ovulation by 24-36 hours.
This calculator provides estimates based on average cycle patterns. Individual cycles vary, and factors including stress, illness, travel, and hormonal changes can shift ovulation timing. For medical-grade fertility tracking or if you have been trying to conceive for 12+ months (or 6+ months if over 35), consult a reproductive endocrinologist.
