What counts as self-care?
Self-care is any intentional activity that maintains or improves your physical, mental, emotional or social wellbeing. It's not indulgence — it's maintenance. Research consistently shows that people who practise regular self-care report lower levels of burnout, better emotional regulation, and higher life satisfaction. Self-care looks different for everyone: for one person it's a 30-minute walk, for another it's setting a boundary in a relationship or spending 10 minutes in silence with a coffee.
How long does it take to build a self-care habit?
The popular notion of "21 days to form a habit" is a myth. Research in the European Journal of Social Psychology found it takes anywhere from 18 to 254 days — with 66 days being the average. The key is starting small: a 5-minute walk is easier to sustain than a 45-minute gym session. The streak tracker here helps you see your consistency over time. Missing one day doesn't break the chain — return the next day without self-judgement.
I'm overwhelmed — where do I start?
Start with just 3 items. Pick one for your body (sleep or movement), one for your mind (journaling, reading, or breathing), and one that brings you joy. Don't try to do everything at once. Complete those three consistently for a week before adding anything new. A small win creates the motivation for the next one. The goal is not a perfect checklist; it's a sustainable practice you can return to on hard days.
Does my data get saved?
Yes — everything saves automatically in your browser's localStorage. No account needed, no data is sent anywhere. Your checks, streak, and custom items are stored privately on your device. Note: clearing browser data or using private/incognito mode will reset your history.
Can I add my own self-care items?
Yes — each category has an "Add your own item" input at the bottom. Type your item and press Enter or click Add. Custom items save to your device and appear in all future sessions. You can remove them by hovering over the item and clicking the × button.

Pick your tab — Daily, Weekly, or Monthly
Daily items are meant for every day. Weekly items are goals to hit at least once across the week. Monthly items are deeper practices to return to each month.

Check off items as you complete them
Click any item to mark it done. The progress rings and overall bar update instantly. Items are colour-coded by category: Body, Mind, Social, and Soul.

Add your own items to any category
Use the "Add your own item" input at the bottom of each category. Your custom items are saved automatically and appear every time you return.

Watch your 30-day streak calendar
The streak calendar shows the last 30 days. A day is counted as done when you complete 50% or more of your daily items. Pink = complete, faded pink = partial.
