📖 How to Use the Chore Chart
1
Add family members
Click + Add Member in the purple bar above the chart. Type a name (e.g. "Mom", "Jake", "Emma") and pick a color. Each person gets a color-coded badge so chores are instantly recognizable at a glance. You can add as many members as you need and delete them anytime.
2
Add chores
Use the + Add Chore button or the form at the bottom of the table. Type the chore name, choose daily / weekly / monthly frequency, and assign it to a family member (or leave as "Anyone"). Click Add and it appears instantly in the chart with day checkboxes.
3
Check off completed chores
Click any day box to mark a chore as done — it turns green. Click again to uncheck. The streak counter in the right column tracks how many consecutive weeks each chore has been completed. Progress bars at the top show each person's completion rate for the week.
4
Reset or print
Click Reset week to uncheck all boxes for a fresh start each Monday. Use Print to send it to your printer or save as a PDF — the page is print-optimised. Everything saves automatically in your browser so the chart is always ready when you come back.
Research-backed tip: Children who do regular chores develop stronger responsibility, time management, and empathy than those who don't. Age-appropriate chores starting around age 3–4 (sorting laundry, setting the table) make a lasting difference. A visible chart with streaks makes completion significantly more likely than verbal reminders alone.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the chore chart save automatically? ▾
Yes — every change (adding a chore, checking a box, adding a member) is saved instantly in your browser's local storage. Close the tab and reopen it on the same device and browser and everything will be exactly as you left it. Your data stays private on your device and is never sent anywhere.
How do streaks work? ▾
The streak counter shows how many consecutive times a chore has been completed. For weekly chores, each fully checked week adds one to the streak. Streaks reset to zero if a week is skipped or reset. The 🔥 icon appears on streaks of 3 or more — a small bit of gamification that research shows significantly increases follow-through on habits and chores.
Can I print the chore chart? ▾
Yes — click the Print button in the toolbar. The page is optimised for printing with a clean layout that hides the navigation, ads, and explanatory content, leaving just the chore chart. You can also Save as PDF from your browser's print dialog to create a digital copy to share or post on a fridge or family board.
What are good chores for different ages? ▾
Ages 2–3: pick up toys, put dirty clothes in hamper. Ages 4–5: set the table, feed pets, wipe down surfaces. Ages 6–8: vacuum, load dishwasher, fold laundry, take out trash. Ages 9–12: clean bathrooms, mow lawn, prepare simple meals, clean kitchen. Teens: all of the above plus more complex cooking, grocery shopping, car maintenance basics. Start with simpler tasks and increase responsibility gradually.

How to Use the Family Chore Chart
Assign, track, and manage household chores for the whole family in one place.
01
Add family members
Enter each person's name and optionally assign a colour. You can add as many members as you need — works for couples, families with kids, and shared houses.
02
Add chores and assign them
Create chores and assign each one to a family member. Set frequency: daily, weekday only, weekends, or weekly on a specific day.
03
Check off completed chores
Each day, tap or click a chore to mark it done. Completed chores show with a strikethrough so everyone can see progress at a glance.
04
Print the weekly chart
Use the print button to generate a clean, printable version to stick on the fridge. Kids especially respond well to a physical chart they can tick off.
05
Reset for a new week
At the start of each week, use the reset button to clear completions. Assignments carry over automatically.
💡 For kids under 8, keep it to 3–5 simple chores maximum. For teens, 5–8 is appropriate. Chores tied to pocket money have the highest completion rates.
