📖 How to Use the Meal Planner
1
Add meals to any day
Click the + button in any cell to add a meal to that slot. Type your meal name or choose from quick-pick suggestions. You can add multiple meals per slot — useful for both a main and a side. Click any meal entry to delete it.
2
Navigate weeks
Use ← Prev and Next → to plan ahead or look back at previous weeks. Each week's plan is saved separately. Today's column is highlighted so you always know where you are.
3
Generate a grocery list
Click Generate grocery list — the tool reads all meals in the current week and creates a smart grocery list organized by category (produce, dairy, meat, pantry, etc.). You can also add items manually. Check items off as you shop.
4
Everything saves automatically
Your meal plan and grocery list are saved in your browser every time you make a change. Close the tab and come back later — everything will be exactly as you left it. Use Clear week to start fresh for the current week.
Meal planning tip: Studies show planning meals for the week reduces food spending by 20–30% and cuts weeknight decision fatigue dramatically. Start by filling in just dinners — the hardest meal to plan — then add lunches if you want. Even 3–4 planned meals per week makes a significant difference.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my meal plan save between visits? ▾
Yes — your meal plan is saved automatically in your browser's local storage every time you add or remove a meal. As long as you use the same browser on the same device, your plan will be there when you come back. It does not sync across devices or browsers. If you clear your browser data or use a private/incognito window, the data will not persist.
How does the grocery list generation work? ▾
The grocery list generator reads all the meal names you've entered for the current week and creates a structured list organized by grocery category (Produce, Meat & Seafood, Dairy, Pantry, etc.). It's based on common ingredients associated with the meal names you enter. You can always add items manually using the text field, and check items off as you shop. The list saves automatically alongside your meal plan.
Can I plan for multiple weeks in advance? ▾
Yes — use the Next → button to navigate to any future week and plan meals in advance. Each calendar week (Monday–Sunday) is stored separately, so you can have different plans for different weeks. The current week is always shown by default when you open the planner, with today's date highlighted.
How many meals can I add per day? ▾
There's no limit — you can add as many entries as you like per meal slot. Each row represents a meal type (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner), and you can add multiple items to each. This is useful if you want to plan a main dish and a side separately, or track snacks. Each entry can be individually deleted by clicking on it.

💡 Meal planning for 2 hours on Sunday saves 30–60 minutes daily and reduces food waste by 30–40%. Start with planning just dinners — breakfast and lunch are usually habitual anyway.
